Todd's Timepiece
The design brief required selecting a Tim Burton film to design a furniture piece for, leading us to Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a tale of a vengeful barber turning customers into meat pies.
We designed a grandfather clock for Todd’s dimly lit barber room, enhancing the eerie, whimsical atmosphere and intensifying suspense. Crafted with exaggerated curves, the woodwork gave it a strange, playful character, while its placement made it a silent witness to Todd’s crimes. The ticking, swaying pendulum and sudden light flicker use visual and auditory cues to intensify Todd’s killing scenes, while the pendulum-mounted clock face subtly hints at deception, creating a cinematic centerpiece.
